- Hiring someone without the necessary skills.
- Hiring someone without having the person take a behavioral assessment.
- Hiring someone whose temperament or personality is wrong for the job.
- Hiring friends and/or relatives.
- Not interviewing the candidate.
- Not preparing for the interview by creating a set of questions that you ask everyone.
- Not having enough candidates to choose form.
- Not screening the candidates so you interview everyone.
- Not checking references and background.

I take issue with #8. I am not sure why having more candidates is necessary if the one candidate you find is “the one”. I struggle with hiring managers and this hiring falsehood.
