Virtual Job Fair
Virtual Job Fair

With its workforce retiring at a rate faster than it's replaced, and a service whose demand has soared with the aging of the baby boom generation, the employment outlook for the health care industry is stronger than almost any other in the nation.

But even a strong industry can be affected by the prevailing economic winds, which is why, in the last month, at least five hospitals have been forced to lay off a combined total of over 5,000 experienced and qualified health care workers.

The lay offs aren't all "economic," of course. At the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, for example, the lay offs were prompted by Hurricane Ike, which all but destroyed the island's only hospital.

But regardless of the reasons for the lay offs, health care professionals in five regions now find themselves unemployed. But with the industry's demand for workers, it should be a crime for trained and certified health care professionals to be sitting at home letting their education and their experience go to waste.

Which is where you come in.

Introducing The Virtual Job Fair: Health Care

The Virtual Job Fair is designed to assist in the outplacement of thousands of experienced health care workers who were laid off in recent weeks:

These candidates have the talent, the skills, and the certifications they need to succeed in your organization. Now all they need is you.

As a participant in the Virtual Job Fair, your package will include:

  • 30 days as a featured employer at the Virtual Job Fair, which includes your logo and a link to your employment page
  • 90 days as a featured employer on Health Care Jobs Nationwide, which also includes your logo and a link to your employment page
  • A 90-day posting on the award-winning career site, BestJobsUSA.com
  • A full color message in the Employment Review outplacement magazine, which is made available to almost 25,000 laid-off employees at over 50 hospitals nationwide

Multiple Options Available

You have the opportunity to reach the affected employees at just one of these hospitals or at as many as you like. The cost of the package depends upon the size of ad you would like to place in the Employment Review and the number of hospitals you'd like to target.

To reach the candidates at one hospital, your cost would be:

$2,495
Half page horizontal (7.75" x 4.875")

Half page vertical (3.8125" x 9.875")

I don't know the specific numbers for Texas, California, or Oklahoma at the moment, but I do know that there were 403 RNs laid off by Physicians Carraway in Birmingham. I'll add any numbers we get on the other hospitals as soon as I have them.

For those who are wondering, Physicians Carraway also laid off:

- 177 Speech Therapists
- 137 Respiratory Therapists
- 123 Pharmacists
- 105 Occupational Therapists
- 102 Physical Therapists

Please let me know if you have any other questions.
