Challenge

Cellular Sales, a Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer, needed a large number of outside sales representatives to serve as independent contractors in their retail stores. These contractors would receive no benefits and no base salary, but if they were successful, they could make over $4,000 a month.

To advertise the position, Cellular Sales announced a series of Open House events in a variety of local newspapers. Unfortunately, the print advertising only yielded a huge influx of unqualified candidates. Disappointed with the result, that's when they called us.

Solution

After a discussion to get a complete understanding of the kinds of candidates Cellular Sales most wanted to reach with the Open House events, we wrote, designed, programmed, and implemented a reverse-posting strategy that utilized our proprietary technology, RCI Talent Locator, which sources the entire Internet for the specific candidates desired by our clients.

Once we determined who the appropriate candidates were and where we could reach them, we delivered an HTML email to their inbox that introduced the candidate to Cellular Sales, announced the available position, and invited them to attend the Open House. We followed up the email with an automated phone call that provided the same information. We then tracked the responses and booked interviews to fill up each Open House event. We also set up phone interviews after the event to keep the flow of qualified candidates coming into Cellular Sales.

Result

The response to our reverse-posting strategy was overwhelming. Cellular Sales now had exactly what they wanted: a room full of interested and qualified candidates. Our contact at Cellular Sales said, "I have never received the quality of candidates from print ads that I have from RCI Talent Locator."

Since December 2008, we have assisted with 25 Open House events and delivered approximately 1,250 qualified candidates to the Cellular Sales team. They have made about 225 hires from these initiatives, which makes their cost-per-hire roughly $390. As the Cellular Sales team said, "RCI Recruitment Solutions has provided more qualified candidate flow than anything we have done in the past."
