Challenge:
The Westerly Hospital needed a recruitment solutions partner to provide it with not only a rewarding sourcing strategy for its employment section, but also with the creative and technical skills to turn that strategy into actual, functioning pages on the website. Solution:We began by sitting down with Westerly's hiring managers and discussing why candidates would choose The Westerly Hospital as an employer. We also conducted research on the surrounding community to discover what it was about the place that made it a desirable location for out-of-market candidates. After doing the necessary background work, we developed a detailed employment section that embraced the overall design of the hospital's corporate site and extended it to reveal more of the hospital's employment culture. The copy highlighted the quality of life at the hospital, its new equipment and facilities, its compensation and benefits, and its high level of community involvement. We also incorporated testimonials (accompanied by photos) from current employees on each of the pages to show that the words on the site were more than just marketing. Result:In the three months following the launch of the remodeled employment section, The Westerly Hospital saw the number of hires originating from its site increase 61%. But more than just increasing the number of hires, the site also resulted in more informed applicants who were more apt to accept an offer, which meant that the recruiters had to spend less time selling the hospital and more time interacting with candidates. The Westerly Hospital is a community hospital in Rhode Island that also serves portions of southern Connecticut. Even though it is an employer of choice in the community, the hospital was failing to use its website successfully as part of its sourcing strategy. The site consisted of two or three pages of job listings and an application function only. Visitors could not find out why they might want to work for the hospital. There was nothing mentioned in the site about the facility, the community, or the fact that the hospital was an employer of choice.
